Preparation, characterization of chitin-based activated carbon for Orange II removal
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chitin-based activated carbon (CAC) was prepared by a two-step process of carbonization and potassium carbonate chemical activation. The CAC characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption/ desorption, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). adsorption performance for Orange II (O II) evaluated in terms contact time, temperature, initial concentration, kinetics, isotherms, thermodynamics. had surface area 1320 m2 g-1 total pore volume 1.10 cm3 g-1. maximum monolayer capacity 1010 mg at 318.2 K O II, respectively. Equilibrium isotherms showed that the Langmuir model higher coefficient determination than Freundlich model. thermodynamic results indicated onto 800 spontaneous endothermic. Given this work, can be used as an efficient adsorbent removal dyes from wastewater.

A study on the preparation of rice bran-based activated carbon was conducted, with and without an acid treatment step prior the activation process. The influence of the activation time on the structure of the activated carbons was evaluated. The acid treatment had a significant positive influence on sorption properties. The rice bran-activated carbon presented a BET surface area of 652m(2)g(-1)...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of K2CO3-Activated Kraft Lignin Carbon
A series of activated carbons (ACs) were prepared by K2CO3 activation from kraft lignin (KL) that was recovered from papermaking black liquor. The effects of process parameters such as the activation temperature (AT), activated period, K2CO3 to KL mass ratio, and N2 flow rate on the characteristics of the final product were determined. The ACs were characterized using nitrogen adsorption, morph...
متن کاملChitin from the mollusc Chiton: Extraction, characterization and chitosan preparation
This study presents the first ever data of extracting chitin from the Chiton shell, which then converted to the soluble chitosan by soaking in the 45% NaOH solution. The obtained chitin and chitosan were characterized by the seven different methods. Antioxidant activity of the extracted chitosan was also evaluated using the two methods. The shell content was divided into calcium carbonate (90.5...
